Colour Fads of the Fall
Winter is slowly creeping up on us; but first we must embrace the wonderful atmosphere of fall! The season of crunchy leaves, cosy sweaters and boots, pumpkin-flavoured everything and of course, richer and deeper hair colours! Today I’ll be showing you the fall hair colouring trends of 2015.
Tired of the same old boring blonde? For fall, why not switch it up a little with a strawberry or rose gold tone?! If you have pale skin, this colour is perfect for you. If you tend to tan quite a bit over the summer or have darker skin, you may want to go with a slightly darker, warmer version of this colour. Strawberry blonde can vary between copper-bronze tones, slightly red or even pinky-golden tones. If you are a natural red head but are in need of a change, why not add some strawberry blonde highlights to give some natural-looking dimension? Or for the red heads; adding some subtle balayage- ombre strawberry blonde highlights looks amazing! Rachel McAdams pulls off the strawberry blonde look perfectly with her fair pinkish- porcelain skin tone. Also, another tip for strawberry blonde hair; pair it with a orange-red lipstick to add a bold look to your natural- looking locks!
If your blonde has suffered from the bleaching of the sun this summer and it’s making you look washed out; try going for a slightly warmer buttery blonde. This does NOT mean yellow, don’t worry! It will just add a little bit more pigment and richness into your hair, and looks much much more natural! However I would definitely recommend not using drug-store colour for this look. If you’re “bleached blonde” please see an experienced stylist! Very porous hair such as bleached hair can absorb the tone of the colour very fast, which in that case; it could turn yellow or very brassy. If you’re nervous about the transition, try some subtle buttery lowlights. It will add more dimension to your hair and will give you a little more “umph” without being too much change for one salon visit. Blake Lively is a perfect example of a multi-tonal buttery blonde.
One of the most popular trends this fall! After all, being brunette and blonde all at the same time is the best of both worlds, right?! This is a look almost anyone could pull off. No matter what your skin tone, hair type, length etc., there is a bronde out there suitable for you! Bronde consists of a darker root which gradually transitions into a blonde on the ends of the hair. Ideally you want to only have about a 3 level difference between the darkest shade (the root) and the lightest shade (the ends). Too much contrast will end up looking more like an ombre. This look can be achieved with highlights, in foils or with a subtle ombre balayage technique. Another great thing is that it’s low maintenance! My favourite bronde look is a medium-brown mocha root (mocha is popular right now too!) that transitions into a cool sandy blonde.
Hopefully you all embrace this new season and open your minds to a little change! Happy Fall!
