Men: 5 Tips For Getting The Most Out Of Your Haircut
Your haircut is one of the first things people notice when they look at you, so it is essential that its always looking the best it can, from the time you leave the salon to the time you come back.
1. Find a haircut that is best for your lifestyle
Finding a haircut that will grow out nicely depending on how long you want to wait will help extend the time between your visits to the hair salon. Your stylist should be able to work with you to find a style that suits you and will stay looking great until your next cut. It is also important to let your stylist know how much effort you put into styling your hair so they can cut it accordingly.
2. Properly wash, don’t overdo it
Over washing can strip your hair of its natural oils, which can leave it dry and frizzy. This can make your haircut appear messy faster, and styling can become more difficult. If you have dry/curly hair, you should wash your hair 2-3 times a week, and if you have straight/oily hair you should wash your hair about 3 times a week. A dry shampoo is perfect for getting one extra day out of your hair before you wash it! Conditioning your hair is also important as it will ensure your hair doesn’t get too dry. Your stylist will be able to recommend a conditioner that isn’t too heavy for your hair.
3. Use the right products / tools
Using the right products and tools is essential to maintaining your hairstyle. A gel or paste with the proper hold / finish can make or break a perfect haircut. Your stylist should be able to recommend the best product to help you style your hair at home with ease. Blow drying your hair when its wet can also help you style it properly. A wide tooth comb can be used after the shower to style the hair before drying. Blow drying the hair makes it appear thicker and can direct the hair into the desired style.
4. Give your hair a break occasionally
Giving your hair a day off from washing, heat and product is a great way to make sure your hair stays healthy, and your cut stays fresh. Leave your hair to dry naturally, or just throw a hat on. You should do this at least once every few weeks. This will allow for your hair to absorb its natural oils, so it doesn’t dry out as fast.
5. Trim your sideburns and neckline
Using the mirror in your bathroom and your razor or trimmer, you can trim your sideburns and around your ears to make it look like you just got a fresh haircut. You can also use a hand mirror to trim your neckline, as it is harder to see in the bathroom mirror. This will extend the time between haircuts and allow for a nicer grow out overall.
Hopefully these tips help to keep your style looking fresh to death! ( ^◡^)
